THE ROCKPILE

 

STILL IN SAIGON by CHARLIE DANIELS

 

The Rockpile is the name of a 230m high rocky hill that was used by the Marines as an observation post during the war. Situated within view of Route 9, this out post was only accessible by helicopter making it a perfect location to watch out for NVA movement in the surrounding area as well as to co-ordinate artillery fire missions
